LABORATORIES AND ACTIVITIES
The knowledge of the agricultural activity and the food chain, the animals and plants life, the farmers’ work and their social role, is the fundamental step to educate towards an informed consumption and the respect of the environment. The handicraft labs aim at rediscovering the local traditions and all those activities linked to the agricultural world. Here follow some proposed labs:
- The wheat life: the story of the grain… from the seed to the spike. You can observe the lands, the historical places and tools used for the wheat plantations and transformation, the farmyard, the old ovens, the plows, with a comparison between the present and the past. From the grain to the flour, with the schiaccia-schiaccia (let’s squash) lab and we can mess up together, having fun.
- Fabulous binds: from the silkworm to the silk. The semi breeding of silkworms discovery: from the maggot, its eggs, to the silkworm in its cocoon phase to the silk yarn. The big tree, great sample of black mulberry, nourishment and life source. Finally, using the cocoons, children will be able to make some creative products or to discover the different natural textile fibers to realize small necklaces with the loom.
Air, water, land and fire stories: at the discovery of the properties and the functions of these elements, through experiments and scientific and creative labs. We will answer to your questions during a unique experience.
The didactical Farm Triticum has been recognized as suitable by the Apulian Region, after accurate evaluations, and it has been included in the Didactical Farms Register, recognized by the Apulian Region. As a didactical farm every year there are some seasonable labs, addressed to all kinds of schools. They deal with themes such as the food and environmental education. In the taste labs, they move from the traditional food education to the taste education: leaving ethic and bans apart – this is healthy, that is unhealthy – you can activate your five senses. Thanks to the raw materials handling, students will be curious, and they will overcome some prejudices which are the base of the food refusal.
In the environmental education labs they try to improve the ecological awareness.
